More effective leading and following through . . .

Flipside Savvy

The Big Picture

Leadership and Followership are interlocking concepts.  One can lead more effectively if they are attentive to issues of concern to followers.  Likewise, a follower is more effective if they understand the issues with which the leader must deal with.

Understanding The Challenges Faced By The Other

Leadership training must of necessity cover those areas of expertise associated with the leader role.  Likewise, training of followers must cover the essentials of their role.  Flipside Savvy moves leaders and followers into a productive understanding of the interlocking nature of those two roles.

Organizational Savvy

When there is joint understanding of the dynamics of organizational life that affect leading and following it is much easier for both leaders and followers to take crucial steps toward alignment.

ABOUT FLIPSIDE SAVVY

After serving as a Professor of Psychology (Industrial-Organizational emphasis) at Quincy University in Quincy, Illinois, for 18 years, we recently relocated back to Spokane, Washington. The move enabled us to be much closer to most of our family.  My retirement also meant that I could shift some of my time to extending ideas that I had special interest in the dynamics of organizational leadership and followership, something that I have been only a part of my day-to-day work as a psychology teacher.
Under the "Leadership Articles" menu choice above you will find papers dealing with a few of the themes I have been exploring that form a foundation for some of that future work in organizational leadership and followership.  I am in the process of reworking academically oriented material into a form that is more accessible to people in organizations. I am also converting the files created by Word over the past few years into Wix files to correct some of problems with Word's tables which are awkward and a little hard to read.
